Country Time

May be an image of covered bridge
Growing up in the country … is being called backwards and uneducated … being asked if you wore shoes in the summer … assumed to be unsophisticated … having your accent made fun of … being called hillbillies and hicks.
But growing up in the country, you are also heir to a legacy … ancestors who tamed the land, cut down trees without power tools and built homes without house plans.
Growing up in the country means you are only a generation or two from having to grow gardens because it was necessary to keep from starving, not just as a quaint hobby …
Grandparents who smoked meat and dried beans for the long winter … and carried water from a stream to cook and wash with.
A country accent is a blend of old English, Irish, Scottish and American Indian… a tribute to your heritage.
Country mothers worked in the fields, tended their young, raised chickens and were masterful cooks. They kept their homes in order, and were the moral compass of the family.
Country fathers worked all day in the coal mines, worked in the fields, built their own house, made caskets for the deceased and could shoe horses.
Counry people are resourceful, extremely hard working and innovative. They won’t cower in safe spaces. They were the originators of dealing with whatever life threw at them. They never expected handouts or thought that they deserved anything.
If you are from the country, be proud of who you are…where you came from…and don’t let anyone dismiss you. Show the world your grit.

Tips for Aging

TIPS FOR AGING
1.   Age matters only if your giving it undue importance.
2.  Youth isn’t about years, it is about your spirit.
3.  Your age does not define your boundaries your mindset does.
4.  Greatness knows no age limit.
5.  Dreams have no expiration date.
Chase them with the same fervor, regardless of the years.
6.  At some point, age is just a mindset –
Choose the youthful one.
7.  Your age  is felt not in years, but in vitality and spirit.
8.  Let love keep that sparkle in your eye and spring in your step.

A Personal Note:
This was a nice reminder for me today.  first time looking into the mirror and seeing an older lady looking back at me.  Life if funny that way. LOL
